Critics have characterized this book as Keaton’s apologia for ignoring her alcoholic, mentally disabled brother’s plight in life. I saw it as a simple autobiography that documented her brother’s path to early dementia while she looked on as she achieved stardom and notoriety. As far as I could see she did nothing wrong and does not say much more in the book than she feels bad about Randy’s plight.
I love Diane Keaton’s acting abilities, but I’d call this a silly book that was not worth the time it took to read.
